Referred to as the ‘gemstone of the rainbow’ the tourmaline range of gemstones incorporate a wide variety of colors. The most fascinating feature associated with a Tourmaline is the fact that no 2 tourmaline’s are the same. The range of colors associated with this particular gem varies from red to green to blue to yellow. Some of the tourmaline’s are known to change their color when the source of light shifts from natural day light to artificial light while some tourmalines are known to showcase the color phenomenon as seen in a cat’s eye.
There are even present tourmalines which have multiple color bands in them and these surely make for a beautiful buy. It is also worth mentioning that unlike other gemstones it is seen that mostly tourmalines are free from any unwanted impurity and also can be easily cut in to shapes which are of bigger sizes. Pink tourmaline is one type of tourmaline which is very commonly used while designing jewelries and ornaments. The case with a pink tourmaline is very interesting.
A tourmaline when present in intense red color is known as a ‘rubellite’. But this holds true only if the stone continues to display the same fine ruby red color in artificial light as it did in daylight. If the colour of the gemstone changes when the light source does, the stone is called a pink or shocking pink tourmaline. Interesting! Considered to be the birth stone for the month of October the pink tourmaline becomes a very fetching gem to buy for any one. The shape of a pink tourmaline varies and can be round, oval or with an emerald cut. What ever be the shape, a pink tourmaline will always continue to dazzle you and your personality!
